as christians, we celebrated palm sunday today. it is considered as the day of the "triumphal entry" of jesus in jerusalem, the week before his death and resurrection. as wikipedia explains it, this day is marked by the distribution of palm leaves (often tied into crosses) to the assembled worshipers. it is said that palm branches were placed in jesus' path, before his arrest on holy thursday and his crucifixion on good friday. it marks the beginning of holy week, the final week of lent.

and in line with "palms", i was treated with a sumptuous lunch by a friend at hacienda de palmeras hotel and restaurant. i had a blast reading their menu because of its affordable prices, compared to some restaurants in manila! we ordered a seafood platter and a bowl of pork dumplings soup (molo). i had the seafood platter all by myself! XD

finally, for dessert, we never missed palmeras' bestseller - knickerbocker! it actually resembles the famous filipino quencher - halo-halo - but with a twist. knickerbocker contains fruit chunks such as watermelon, banana, papaya and mango plus more chunks of gelatin and topped with a scoop of strawberry ice cream. fruit lovers would definitely love this! and the knickerbocker is also perfect to beat the summer heat!
